Improvements to the Credit System will be reviewed for adoption by SEC on March 3rd

Key to the continual improvement of the Nevada Conservation Credit System (Credit System) is the adoption of well-supported improvements to the Credit System. Such improvements ensure Credit System policies, procedures, and tools continue to support achievement of the Credit System’s goal - for impacts to greater sage-grouse habitats from anthropogenic disturbances to be offset through restoration, enhancement, and protection that results in a net benefit for sage-grouse habitats in the State of Nevada.

Well-supported improvements depend on a process that identifies findings from the operation of the Credit System and new science, and produces well-vetted recommendations to improve the Credit System.

The Sagebrush Ecosystem Technical Team recently produced the Credit System’s 2016 Findings & Improvement Recommendations Report, which synthesizes findings from 2016 and includes draft improvements to the Credit System that the SETT recommends for adoption by the Sagebrush Ecosystem Council. The Sagebrush Ecosystem Council reviewed and adopted several recommended improvements at the January 26, 2017 meeting, and will review the remaining improvement recommendations and consider their adoption at the Sagebrush Ecosystem Council meeting on March 3rd, 2017.
